The Origins: A Royal Residence in the Heart of Paris

Hotel Edouard 7 finds its inspiration in the figure of Albert Edward of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, better known as Edward VII. Born in 1841 as the son of Queen Victoria, Edward VII was deeply enamored with the City of Light. Paris, at the end of the 19th century, was a hub of culture, fashion, and nightlife—realms that fascinated the prince. Captivated by the French capital, he made Paris his residence when he became Prince of Wales in 1877. This enduring fascination led to the creation of the hotel, intended to welcome an elegant and affluent clientele.

Built in the typical Haussmann style of the period, the hotel embodies the refined taste of Edward VII. It served not only as his residence but also as a place to host noble friends and aristocrats drawn to the nearby Opéra Garnier. The noble materials used in its décor, alongside the discreet grandeur of its style, mirror the opulent life of a prince in love with Paris.

A HAUTE COUTURE HOTEL:
The architectural transformation

The history of Hotel Edouard 7 does not stop at its royal origins. Over the decades, it has evolved with the times, remaining true to its legacy of elegance. The hotel’s most recent transformation was orchestrated by Christophe Daudré, who skillfully blended the hotel’s classical style with contemporary touches. Each room is designed as a work of art, a true haute couture gem where luxurious materials like silk, leather, and cashmere combine to create a refined and welcoming atmosphere.

The hotel’s 69 rooms and suites span seven floors, featuring three “Couture” floors and four “Edouard 7” floors. The “Edouard 7” floors are inspired by precious stones, a nod to the world of jewelry in the nearby Place Vendôme. Each floor is decorated according to a gemstone theme, offering guests a unique experience with every stay.
